Waverley Gate, Edinburgh -Fire Resistant Internal Envelope

Project Value:
Main Contractor: Balfour Beatty
Value: £3,250,000
Architect: Hugh Martin Partnership
Requirement: Waverley Gate presented a unique challenge in creating a fired rated glazed envelope within the listed facade, with no direct fix between the structural floors and the glazing itself.
Scope:

Fendor created an internal fire rated envelop set back from the external listed facade, encapsulating the offices within. Using a unique ‘veerindeel’ beam solution to support the glazing structure away from the floor slab, allowing natural light to the offices. The entrance lobby’s suspended ceiling was also built into the Fendor framework. The internal fire rated atrium created communal areas and aluminium doors and roof lights were fitted to the external roof terrace.
