Main Contractor:

For the refurbishment of this listed medium secure facility, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust required a windows solution that would mimic the appearance for of vertical sliding windows, however because of the need for high levels of safety and security, the Trust wanted a horizontal sliding window. Fendor designed a bespoke solution especially for the Roycroft Ward at St Nicolas’ Hospital, Newcastle, adapting a steel SlideVent™ design. The project uses a mixture of SecureLine® 3 glass to the bedrooms and SecureLine® 2 to other areas such as treatment areas and activity rooms. The window design was further customised with dual colour frames and the the FENDOR Slipper Clutch™ handle mechanism that cannot be was also selected for patient rooms.
